Enhancing the temporal stability of DSSCs with novel vinylpyrimidine anchoring and accepting group

Three compounds based on aniline, thiophene and vinylpyrimidine as anchoring group have been prepared studied light harvesting units for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). They comprise thiophenyl ?-spacer systems with one or two thiophenes (AT-Pyri, ATT-Pyri) aniline donor which is functionalized, in case, an hydroxyl (HO-AT-Pyri). The bithiophene dye (ATT-Pyri) shows higher extinction coefficients smaller transition energy, well broader absorption spectrum. Thus, despite lower uptake, devices the (HO-AT-Pyri) slightly power conversion efficiencies (?) compared analogous without this (AT-Pyri). However, best performing device bridge when a co-adsorbent added to avoid aggregation of dye. photovoltaic parameters these dyes are enhanced over 1000 h, especially ATT-Pyri devices, reach ? = 6,4%.
